Processor and Memory Configuration
The EBC 355U is an embedded board equipped with either an onboard Intel® Atom™ E3800 or J1900 processor, based on a low-power design that enables fanless operation. It is engineered to deliver stable performance in industrial environments that require low noise and low heat generation.
It offers a single 204-pin DDR3L SO-DIMM slot supporting up to 8GB of memory. The memory clock supports either 1066MHz or 1333MHz, providing flexible responses to various system requirements.
Display Output Configuration
Graphics output is supported by the Intel® Gen 7 GPU, and the board provides three display ports: VGA, HDMI, and LVDS. Both the VGA and HDMI ports support resolutions up to 1920x1200, while the LVDS port, with its 24/48-bit dual-channel configuration, can output the same resolution, making it suitable for industrial equipment using high-resolution panels. This configuration is particularly ideal for applications that require HMI, digital signage, or multi-display setups.
Audio and Communication Interfaces
For audio, the board features the Realtek ALC888 HD Audio codec, supporting high-definition audio input and output. It also provides pin headers for mic-in, line-out, and speaker output, making it suitable for multimedia applications.
Network connectivity is provided by dual Gigabit LAN ports based on the Intel® I210, supporting not only high-speed data communication but also features like PXE boot and Wake-on-LAN for remote control and maintenance. These features are highly useful in large-scale industrial networks or unmanned systems.
Expandability and I/O Configuration
In terms of expandability, the board offers one full-size and one half-size mini-PCIe slot (two slots total), allowing the installation of various modules such as Wi-Fi, 3G/4G, mSATA, and Bluetooth.
Additional I/O options include 8-bit GPIO (4-in / 4-out) pins, onboard keyboard/mouse pin headers, a 4-pin fan connector, onboard power and reset buttons, and a built-in buzzer. This provides excellent compatibility with various sensors and control devices.
There are four USB 3.0 ports, which are useful for connecting external devices requiring high data transfer speeds. Additional USB ports can be expanded via internal headers.
For serial communication, the board offers three RS232 ports and one port that supports RS232/422/485, ensuring perfect integration with industrial serial devices. It can directly connect to equipment using various protocols, offering great flexibility for field applications.
Storage and Power Supply
For storage devices, there are two SATA 2.0 ports, enabling stable connection with SSDs or HDDs and easy integration of large-capacity storage.
Power is supplied via a single +12V DC input using a 4-pin power connector, ensuring stable power delivery. It is also compatible with separate AC-DC adapters or industrial power supplies, making field installation convenient.
Environmental Resistance and Dimensions
The board measures 146mm x 102mm (3.5” ECX standard form factor), making it easy to integrate into various industrial cases or panels.
In terms of environmental resistance, it delivers strong performance. The operating temperature range is from -20°C to +60°C, and the storage temperature range is from -25°C to +85°C. It can operate reliably under humidity conditions of 1090% during operation and 595% during non-operation (Note: These humidity figures seem unusually high; please verify if they are correct). This makes it suitable for use in harsh environments such as outdoor control boxes, sealed devices, and unmanned facilities.
Lastly, to ensure system stability, the board features a watchdog timer, temperature and voltage monitoring, and fan speed detection, maintaining reliability even during long-term unmanned operation.
Despite its compact size, the NexCOBOT EBC 355U series is an embedded board with powerful functionality and extensive expandability.
